In a press briefing held this morning in Lusaka, Minister of Technology and Science Hon. Felix Mutati and Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Hon. Jack Mwiimbu outlined the government’s intensified efforts to enhance cybersecurity infrastructure. The administration is investing significantly to tackle online scams and harmful digital content, aiming to safeguard citizens, including children, from online threats.

Minister Mutati emphasized the government’s commitment to protecting its people from cyber attacks through substantial investments in digital infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Minister Mwiimbu warned that those engaging in online propaganda, hate speech, or other digital crimes could face up to five years in prison. He criticized a recent statement by Mr. Lungu, describing it as irresponsible given his former high office and condemned the lawlessness seen during the previous administration.

Mr Mwiimbu affirmed that President Hakainde Hichilema is committed to non-violence and due legal process for any infractions by officials. He also urged political leaders to maintain order and avoid contributing to lawlessness in the country.
