The Zambia Police Service reports that Mark Kabika, who was reported missing on August 24, 2024, has been safely reunited with his family.
In a statement today, Mark Kabika explained that he voluntarily left his school campus on August 19, 2024, after seeking transport funds from his mother, Ms. Florina Mambali, of Kazungula.
Kabika was under significant stress due to an escalating debt from K13,000 to K19,500, which he needed to repay by finding employment. He traveled to Monze, where he secured a job as a farm supervisor with Mr. Sililo.
After discovering that his disappearance was widely discussed on social media, Kabika contacted church members to confirm the news. This led Pastor Benny Shumba from Chilenje to travel to Monze and bring Kabika back to Lusaka.
The Zambia Police Service commends Pastor Shumba and the church members for their crucial role in Kabika’s safe return and appreciates public cooperation. The Zambia Police encourages individuals facing personal or financial challenges to seek help rather than causing distress to their loved ones.
