The Zambian government has announced 50 postgraduate scholarships aimed at equipping citizens with expertise in renewable energy and climate change. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance the nation’s capacity to address climate-related issues.
Brilliant Habeenzu, Permanent Secretary for Technology and Science, emphasized the importance of cultivating specialists to help diversify Zambia’s energy sources. The scholarships, available for the 2024/2025 academic year, cover fields including Mining, Agriculture, Health, Tourism, Renewable Energy, Climate Change, and Manufacturing.
Dr. Habeenzu highlighted that these scholarships are aligned with the Eighth National Development Plan and will focus on research likely to yield innovative solutions that can significantly improve the livelihoods of Zambian citizens.
