Kazungula Cooperatives Get Solar Hammer Mills

Must read

Eight cooperatives and one church in Kazungula District have received one each of five solar-powered and four diesel-propelled hammer mills procured through the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC).

Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Elias Muhanga said the nine hammer mills were a form of loan and would bring essential milling services closer to the people, substantially cutting down the distances traveled by the residents to mill their maize.

Mubanga added the solar-powered technology hammer mills will lower production costs.

“No stone will be left unturned in the development of Zambia as the government is committed to ensuring that everyone benefits from empowerment,” the Minister said.

He has encouraged more religious groups and community institutions to engage in the available government empowerment programs.

“I challenge rural schools, churches, and other institutions to embrace entrepreneurship and take advantage of the available government empowerment opportunities,” he said.

CEEC Director General Muwe Mungule said the package includes the purchase and installation of the hammer mills and the provision of working capital.

Katombola Constituency Member of Parliament Clement Andeleki is grateful to the government for ensuring that its empowerment programs reach the most remote parts of the country, describing it as a true reflection of the “One Zambia, One Nation” motto.
