President Hakainde Hichilema has reiterated the government’s dedication to upholding culture and national values, emphasizing their importance in driving development and fostering a progressive mindset.
Speaking at the Mtomolo traditional ceremony of the Namwanga people, President Hichilema underscored that national values must be consistently honoured to support the country’s economic growth. He expressed pride in the district’s impressive agricultural performance for the 2023-2024 farming season and highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to bolster irrigation schemes in the area, especially in light of recent drought challenges.
Chieftainess Waitwika, represented by Blackwell Silwenga, commended the government’s plans to construct a commercial airport as outlined in the recently presented 2025 national budget. She noted that the airport would significantly enhance transportation, boost revenue collection, and create employment opportunities for local residents, aligning with the government’s rural development objectives.
Additionally, Chieftainess Waitwika praised the ongoing construction of a new palace, highlighting its importance for local governance and cultural representation.
