The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) staff will soon be granted immunity for actions taken in good faith while performing their duties, following Cabinet approval of the Zambia Revenue Authority (Amendment) Bill 2024.
Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa announced that the bill will be introduced in Parliament during the current session. Its purpose is to amend the ZRA Act to ensure protection for authority staff against liability for actions performed within their official capacity.
“The ZRA Act Chapter 321 currently lacks provisions for staff immunity regarding acts done in good faith while exercising their powers,” Mr. Mweetwa stated.
This announcement came during a Cabinet meeting held on Monday at State House, which focused on legislative matters related to the implementation of the 2025 national budget and policies aimed at promoting socio-economic development.
