PRESS STATEMENT
UNKNOWN PERSONS CONDUCTING RITUALS AT HIGH COURT PREMISES
December 8,2024-The Zambia Police Service wishes to address public concerns regarding reports of alleged ritual activities at the High Court premises.
Today December 8, 2024, while conducting routine patrols, police officers received information that unknown individuals were reportedly bathing within the High Court premises for suspected ritual purposes. Acting on this report, police officers rushed to the scene and apprehended four individuals, namely:
Boyd Ngosa, male, aged 28,
James Banda, male, aged 39,
Dismas Sakala, male, aged 36, and
Francis Kasote, male, aged 33.
The quartet has been detained on a holding charge of conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
Initial investigations have revealed that the individuals in question are vagabonds with no fixed abode. They were found outside the High Court grounds at a location near the roundabout between three islands, where there is a broken drainage system that collects water. Contrary to earlier reports, the suspects were not bathing within the High Court premises but were allegedly washing plastic containers for resale, a common activity among street vendors in the area.
Further inquiries indicate that this location is frequently used by mobile shoe vendors and street workers to clean their merchandise or containers for their trade. The four individuals remain in custody as investigations continue.
We urge members of the public to exercise caution in spreading unverified information and to report suspicious activities to the police immediately for appropriate action.
