Two men from Chazanga Compound have appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court, accused of facilitating the trafficking of 13 Ethiopian nationals into Zambia.
The suspects, Patrick Kombe, a 43-year-old driver, and Kalombe Siaumpe, a 42-year-old peasant farmer, have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The duo faces 13 counts of facilitating trafficking in persons, contrary to Section 7 (1)(a) of the Anti-Human Trafficking (Amendment) Act No. 16 of 2022 of the Laws of Zambia.
According to the charge sheet, on December 2, along Ngwerere Road in Chongwe District, Lusaka Province, the accused, acting together with unknown individuals, knowingly facilitated the trafficking of Ethiopian nationals into Zambia.
The trial is scheduled to commence on December 24, 2024.
