Following his arrest by the police for allegedly assaulting a 15-year-old grade 11 pupil, a teacher in Samfya District has been relieved from his teaching responsibilities.
The teacher, identified as Sinyangwe, reportedly engaged in inappropriate conduct with the student on April 18, 2024, at approximately 16:30 hours.
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale confirmed the incident, stating that Sinyangwe, who was serving as the School Head Teacher, summoned the pupil to his office and instructed her to clean the Head teacher’s house.
Subsequently, while the student was cleaning, Sinyangwe purportedly followed her to the house, where he allegedly assaulted her.
Upon discovering the assault, the victim confided in her aunt, prompting the matter to be reported to the authorities.
Medical examinations corroborated the assault claims, leading to the apprehension of the suspect by the police at the school premises. He is currently in custody awaiting formal charges.”
