Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Commander Lieutenant General Oscar Nyoni has promoted Red Arrows coaches and players to new ranks following the club’s trophy-laden 2023/24 season.
Arrows completed a domestic double, clinching the league title with a match to spare, and claiming the 2024 ABSA Cup title.
To reward the team for its impressive outing, ZAF Commander Lt. Gen. Nyoni has promoted head coach Chisi Mbewe to the rank of Warrant Officer Class Two (WOC2) while assistant coach Kalililo Kakonje and the rest of the coaching staff have been elevated to the rank of Sergeant.
A number of Arrows players serving as officers in the Air Force have also been promoted to their respective higher ranks.
Those promoted include captain and defender Benedict Chepeshi, Paul Katema, and Allan Kapila, who presented the club’s trophies from last season to the ZAF Commander.
“Because you are champions, double champions for that matter, as your Commander, I recognize your outstanding performance,” Lt. Gen. Nyoni said.
“Subsequently, I am pleased to promote each player and technical bench to the next higher ranks. These promotions are with immediate effect and true evidence of your hard work and dedication, which has brought honor to the entire Air Force.”
Lt. Gen. Nyoni has also challenged the team to perform even better in the upcoming season as they represent the nation in the CAF Champions League.
