DCs Charged to Cooperate to Deliver Development and Service

Must read

District Commissioners (DCs) have been advised against divisive competition among themselves at the expense of delivering development and services.

At a meeting today, President Hakainde Hichilema warned DCs
countrywide to desist from the old working culture because it slows down development.

The President reminded them that their key role was to diligently and prudently improve the lives of all Zambians regardless of anyone’s political affiliation.

Mr. Hichilema implored the DCs to embrace team work and avoid tearing one another and working in isolation, a trend he described as detrimental to service delivery.

He further lambasted some DCs, whom he said drink alcohol from Monday to Friday, and wondered how citizens perceive.

He said that was an indication that they are not ready to serve the citizens and a serious betrayal to the nation.

“Team work is not an option here, a hand has five fingers each with different tasks. You can’t be a DC fighting everyone and removing people from their positions. This culture of those who left must not be left to continue in the way we treat people,” Mr. Hichilema said.

The President said he delivers a similar theme to all the people he has been meeting with at State House – hard work to deliver quality services to the people through supporting one another.

He also reminded the DCs to take drought as a challenge that needs urgent solutions because civic leaders are supposed to take care of the people in their districts.
