Failure to secure sufficient funding has prematurely halted the Zambia Baseball5 Youth National Team from
pursuing qualification for the regional competition.
According to a statement, despite the team’s “dedication and rigorous preparation”, the lack of sufficient funds has hindered its ability to cover the essential costs associated with the competition.
“We regret to announce that, due to a significant shortfall in funding, we are unable to participate in the ongoing Regional Qualifiers in South Africa. This decision comes after careful consideration and extensive efforts to secure the necessary financial support,” the statement read.
The team has moaned that the “unfortunate situation” has prevented it from showcasing its players’ talents and representing Zambia on the regional stage.
“We remain committed to the development and growth of Baseball5 in Zambia and are actively seeking solutions to address the funding gap. Our organisation is exploring alternative avenues for support and will continue to work diligently to ensure that future opportunities are not compromised,” the statement added.
The team is hopeful that with the assistance of the community, partners, and sponsors, it will overcome this challenge and achieve its goal of competing at higher levels.
