The Zambia police service has arrested a woman who assaulted her husband’s alleged girlfriend.
Kavui Mwanaute, the suspected girlfriend from Kisasa area in Kalumbila, Zambezi district, was attacked by Mrs. Anne Phiri.
Mrs. Phiri has been charged with the offense of assault causing actual bodily harm, according to police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga.
Mr Hamoonga said the 21-year-old victim suffered injuries on her back, buttocks, abdomen, and experienced overall body pains due to the assault, which involved slaps and kicks.
He said incident took place on August 2, 2024, at around 17:00 hours in Kisasa area where the case was reported, leading to the arrest of the suspect, Phiri, on August 6.
Mr Hamoonga has urged the public not to share videos of the incident.
He added the police are treating the matter seriously and have launched an investigation to identify the source of the viral video.
