Zambia has reopened the three borders with the Democratic Republic of Congo that were temporarily closed over the weekend.
Mokambo, Kasumbalesa and Sakanya borders were closed due to protests in the neighboring country following a ban on imports of certain beverages by DRC.
Following a meeting in Lubumbashi, DRC, involving the Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry, Chipoka Mulenga, Copperbelt Minister, Elisha Matambo, officials from the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), other stakeholders, and officials from DRC, the borders have now been reopened.
A statement from the Ministry of Information and Media indicated that both countries have agreed to adhere to the regulations outlined in the International Trade Agreements.
There will be unhindered flow of goods and services between the two countries.
The statement further highlighted that both nations have reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating to enhance trade and economic growth for the benefit of the people in both countries.
