Chief Justice Dr. Mumba Malila, SC, has been evacuated to South Africa for advanced medical care following a road traffic accident on the evening of August 30, 2024, according to Thabo Kawana, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Media.
Dr. Malila sustained a fractured leg but is reported to be in good spirits and grateful for the public’s support and prayers. His driver, Mr. Newton Njovu, escaped the incident without injury.
The government will provide further updates on the Chief Justice’s condition as they become available.
