Must read

Choma and Monze are earmarked for level 1 hospitals to address the deficit of health facilities in the two districts, the Ministry of Health has revealed.

During a courtesy call on the Southern provincial administration yesterday, Health Minister Elijah Muchima stated that Choma and Monze would each have a level 1 constructed while another health facility would be put up in Zimba.

Muchima said the government had noted the deficit of health facilities in the province, hence, the allocation of resources to cure that. Further, the remaining two phases of the existing Request Muntanga level 1 hospital, which have stalled for years, would soon resume as funding had been released.

He also said the government had received calls to upgrade Namwianga Mission Hospital to a level 1 facility.

The provincial administration was thankful for the development and committed to supporting the projects.

Choma Central Member of Parliament Cornelius Mweetwa expressed gratitude for the expected increase in the number of health facilities to cater to the increased population, which had expanded especially after Choma became the provincial capital

The minister is on a familiarization tour of health facilities in Southern Province.
