Days after his sister’s K14 million property was forfeited to the state on grounds of it being tainted, Dalitso Lungu, another of Zambia’s ex-president Edgar Lungu’s children, will soon find out the fate of his equally suspected tainted assets.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Court has set 6 December 2024 as the date on which it will deliver judgment in the matter where Dalitso’s massive fleet of more than 80 vehicles is the subject of a forfeiture application by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The DPP contends that the younger Lungu had acquired K31 million and at least 16 different properties across the country, among them a filling station. During the trial, Lungu testified that he had been gifted the properties by his father. The same explanation was given by his two sisters–Chiyeso and Tasila–whose properties have been forfeited.
The state has also applied for the forfeiture of Dalitso’s company, alleging that it is a proceed of crime.
