The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, has announced the commencement of construction of the Longacres Police Post, a project funded by the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). Valued at over K700,000, this initiative is part of the 2024 CDF community projects and aims to bolster security in the Lusaka Central constituency.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Hon. Haimbe, who also serves as the MP for Lusaka Central, emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing law enforcement infrastructure. “Our quest to capacitate the police service and create a conducive working environment cannot be overemphasized,” he stated, adding that improved facilities would significantly aid crime prevention efforts.
Area Councillor Clement Milonga highlighted that the new police post will feature a Criminal Investigations Department, which was previously lacking due to space constraints. This addition, he noted, will enhance the operational capacity of the station and improve overall community security.
The CDF Chairperson, represented by Committee member Mrs. Alice Nzala, identified the project as a priority to address the pressing need for improved security in the constituency.
Inspector Joseph Phiri also expressed gratitude for the government’s focus on community safety, commending the improvements in working conditions for law enforcement officers.
The police post is expected to be completed within three months, marking a significant upgrade to security services in the area.
