The Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts has taken significant steps to empower youths at Itezhi-Tezhi Boarding School in Southern Province by providing motorcycles, financial grants, and sports kits. During the event, Minister Elvis Nkandu addressed the beneficiaries, calling for unity and equitable resource distribution. He urged local leaders in Itezhi-Tezhi District to avoid selective practices when allocating grants and resources intended to uplift the community.
Mr Nkandu announced that approximately 112 youths from various wards have received financial grants ranging from K500 to K5,000, along with motorcycles on loan. This initiative aims to enhance the living standards of vulnerable individuals aged 18 to 35. The minister emphasized that the empowerment program is designed to benefit all Zambians, regardless of their political affiliation.
He also encouraged the beneficiaries to manage public funds responsibly and adhere to loan repayment guidelines. Additionally, about 20 local sports teams will receive sports equipment as part of the initiative, which aims to foster sporting talent and community engagement. The motorcycles provided will be offered on loan, with a three-month grace period for beneficiaries to begin repayments.
