Chiyeso Lungu, the daughter of former President Edgar Lungu, has petitioned the Lusaka High Court to stop the forfeiture of assets allegedly seized by the state, pending her appeal of a recent ruling.
The request comes after the state, through Senior Investigations Officer Emmanuel Khondowe of the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC), filed an affidavit opposing Lungu’s application. Khondowe asserts that the contested properties, which include containers suspected of containing proceeds from criminal activities, were seized and placed under state control well before the court’s ruling.
Khondowe further contends that Lungu has failed to provide evidence of her ownership or interest in the assets and argues that her application lacks merit. He has urged the court to dismiss the appeal, noting that the properties remain under investigation.
