Zanaco has joined ZESCO United and Nchanga Rangers in the search for a new coach after Wedson Nyirenda stepped down.
Nyirenda has resigned from the club following his side’s poor start to the 2024/25 season.
With just one win this season which came back in August, the Bankers have endured a difficult campaign and find themselves in an unsafe 16th position with just 9 points on the Super League table.
Sources at the club have since exclusively confirmed to Zambian Digest that Nyirenda has opted to cut short his stay at the club after a disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to Napsa Stars last weekend.
The Bankers are now expected to officially announce the departure of the 57-year-old former Chipolopolo tactician in the coming hours with assistant coach Dabid Chilufya to be left in charge on an interim basis.
Nyirenda, who previously handled Zanaco between 2009 and 2011, re-joined the club on a short-term contract in April, 2023 before signing a two-year extension which was due to expire at the end of the current season.
