Must read

The Zambia Police Service, in collaboration with the Zambia Army Military Police, has successfully apprehended two individuals, Mr. Wiliki Dube (28) and Mr. Lloyd Phiri (27), in connection with a fraudulent scheme targeting unsuspecting citizens. The suspects were arrested following a joint operation and are facing multiple charges, including forgery, uttering false documents, and providing false information to public officers.

Mr. Dube, the primary suspect, is accused of forging an affidavit in which he falsely identified himself as Geoffrey Chongo Zyeele. He used this forged document to mislead the National Registration Office (NRO), making false claims about his parents’ names. Specifically, he falsely stated that his father’s name was Luckson Chongo Zyeele and his mother’s name was Diana Tembo. In addition to these charges, Mr. Dube is also accused of making false statements under oath in official proceedings.

Mr. Phiri, a former civilian employee of the Zambia Army, is alleged to have facilitated the acquisition of the fraudulent National Registration Card (NRC) for Mr. Dube. Phiri is also charged with signing an affidavit falsely claiming to be Dube’s father, further assisting in the deception.

The suspects used the forged identity to open an Airtel Money account under the name “Geoffrey Chongo Zyeele,” with the intent to deceive others. They are also accused of exploiting this false identity to solicit money from members of the public, pretending to assist with recruitment into the Zambia Army. The Zambia Army has made it clear that it does not charge any fees for recruitment and is not conducting a recruitment drive at this time.

The Zambia Police Service has vowed to continue its efforts in combating fraud and ensuring that those who attempt to deceive the public are brought to justice. Citizens are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
