A 35-year-old woman from Wacha Township in Kalomo District has tragically died after allegedly consuming a herbal concoction prescribed by a traditional healer from Choma District, Southern Province.
The deceased has been identified as Haliet Simani, and her brother, Alamson Simani, confirmed the tragic incident to Diamond News. According to Alamson, Haliet had been married for 10 years but struggled with infertility, prompting their 80-year-old father, Alfred Munkombwe Simani, to seek the help of herbalist Collins Sibajane from Mapanza in Choma.
On Friday, the herbalist visited the family’s home and administered the herbal remedy. However, shortly after taking the concoction, Haliet began experiencing severe stomach pains, vomiting blood, and having nosebleeds. Despite these alarming symptoms, the herbalist reassured the family that her condition would improve.
Unfortunately, Haliet’s condition worsened, and she passed away on Monday. Local authorities in Southern Province have yet to release additional information regarding the incident.
