Confusion Rocks South Africa’s EFF

Must read

Confusion has continued to reign in South Africa’s youthful opposition party, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), with the latest development seeing popular founder member and lawmaker Mbuyiseni Ndlozi being barred from participating in the party’s elective conference set for December 13-15 in Johannesburg.

At the centre of the of the conference is filling up the deputy presidency position left by Floyd Shivambu who recently joined the uMkhonto we Sizwe Party (MKP) led by former South Africa president Jacob Zuma.

Though former secretary Godrich Gardee is preferred by the party leadership to replace Shivambu, Ndlozi was popular among the younger, more rebellious members of the EFF, who were advocating for him to make himself available, according to media reports.

However, since Ndlozi chose not to run for the position, the party leadership has decided to prevent him from attending.

This action seems to be part of a broader strategy aimed at limiting his involvement in party activities.

Ndlozi’s perceived association with Shivambu has reportedly weakened his relationship with Malema and other senior leaders, raising concerns about loyalty within the party.

Malema has expressed the importance of loyalty and dedication, which some view as indirect criticisms directed at Ndlozi.
