Zambia national team defender Kabaso Chongo has declared the team ready to go and compete for the title at the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament which starts next month.
An assemblage of locally-based Chipolopolo players has entered into residential camp in Lusaka to prepare for the CHAN tournament which is strictly for players plying their trades in Africa.
Speaking in an interview this afternoon, Chongo said the Chipolopolo are oozing with confidence while also emphasizing on the need for team work in order to achieve the dream of winning the CHAN title.
“The morale in camp looks good and everyone looks in good shape. The task we have been given is to go and win CHAN and for that to happen we need to work as a team,” Chongo told FAZ media.
The Kabwe Warriors centre-back described CHAN as a highly competitive tournament where the Chipolopolo will need to work extra hard in order to conquer.
“You cannot go to such a tournament and win if you don’t work as a team, so we need to work hard to ensure that we bring the CHAN title home,” he said.
Nonetheless, the former TP Mazembe man says the entire squad is prepared for the upcoming challenge with less than month to the go before the competition kicks off on 1st to 28th February, 2025.
“We need take it seriously because this will be the first tournament for most of us but I think everyone is looking ready to go fight,” he said.
The 2024 (to be played in 2025) will be co-hosted by three east African countries in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
