High BP Prevents Petauke Central Aspirant From Filing Nomination

Must read

Moses Katongo Mutale, an aspiring candidate in the Petauke Central parliamentary by-elections, has failed to file his nomination today citing high blood pressure due to apparent anxiety.

Mutale who is aspiring to contest the Petauke Central seat on an independent ticket, could not physically turn up at the official ECZ nomination centre as he had to be rushed to hospital to receive medical attention for blood pressure as well as hypertension.

His representative, Peter Nyanje attempted to file Katongo’s nomination on his behalf but was not successful as ECZ demanded for the aspiring candidate’s presence.

“We haven’t successfully done so yet but we are told that we will be called and this is because my candidate has got BP due to some pressure so his BP has risen and he’s gone to the hospital,” Nyanje told reporters.

Nonetheless, Nyanje remained optimistic of successfully filing Mutale’s nomination after providing proof of his client’s authorization to submit his papers on his behalf as guided by the electoral board.

“I’m told to say he should bring a soft copy of his photo and a letter to confirm he has authorized his agent to sign and file the nomination on my behalf,” he said.

Filing of nominations has since continued in Petauke Central for the upcoming parliamentary by-election which is slated for February, 6th 2025.
