Tasila Lungu Secures Stay on Farm Forfeiture Pending Appeal

Must read

Tasila Lungu, the daughter of former President Edgar Lungu, has successfully secured a stay on the forfeiture of her farm in Sinda District, valued at K8 million, until her appeal is heard and concluded by the Court of Appeal.

This means her farm won’t be forfeited until the case is closed. The court has also imposed a condition prohibiting Tasila from selling the farm until the matter is concluded.

This follows her renewed application to halt the execution of the judgment dated September 17, 2024.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Court (EFCC) had earlier ruled that the property be forfeited to the state, alleging it was tainted.

The EFCC initially dismissed her application to stay the forfeiture, citing a lack of “exceptional circumstances” and deeming the appeal to have no “prospects of success.”

However, Judge Kelvin Muzenga has now granted the stay of execution, allowing the case to proceed to appeal.
