Must read

US National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) champions Orlando Pride have signed Zambian striker Prisca Chilufya from Mexican side FC Juarez.

The 25-year-old forward becomes the third Copper Queens player at the club as she links up with national team skipper Barbara Banda and midfielder Grace Chanda in Orlando, Florida.

Orlando confirmed the signing of Chilufya, who has signed a three-year contract with the club, in a statement released on their official website this afternoon.

“We are thrilled to welcome Prisca to the Orlando Pride. Prisca is a dynamic forward who brings exceptional ability, speed, and a proven scoring record to our attack,” club Sporting Director Haley Carter said.

Meanwhile, Chilufya has expressed excitement and described her move to the US and joining Orlando Pride as a dream come true.

“I’m excited to bring my experience and skills to the NWSL, which is one of the most competitive leagues in the world. The opportunity to play alongside such talented teammates and learn from the coaching staff here in Orlando is something I’ve dreamed about. I’ve watched as the Pride have built something special, and I want to contribute to the team’s success both on and off the field,” Chilufya said.

Chilufya enjoyed a stellar 2023/24 season, scoring 14 goals to help FC Juarez qualify for the Liga MX Femenil playoffs.

She also becomes the fourth Copper Queens player in the NWSL, joining her new Orlando Pride teammates as well as Rachael Kundananji, who plays for Bay FC.
