In a ground-breaking development for Zambia’s industrial landscape, local company AFNON Industries has clinched a monumental US$10 million investment to spearhead the establishment of Africa’s largest stove manufacturing plant.
The visionary initiative, led by AFNON Industries CEO Arnold Nyendwa, aims to revolutionize the production of gas, electric, and combination stoves, catering to both domestic and regional markets with an eye on export opportunities within SADC, COMESA, and AfCFTA member states.
“This venture marks a significant milestone for Zambia and the continent as a whole,” expressed Nyendwa. “Our focus is not only on meeting local demand but also on positioning Zambia as a hub for stove manufacturing excellence across Africa.”
AFNON Industries has forged a strategic partnership with a prominent Chinese firm renowned for its expertise in the home appliances and automobile industries. Leveraging this collaboration, the manufacturing plant will harness cutting-edge technology and specialized knowledge to deliver high-quality, innovative stove solutions.
Nyendwa, a dynamic entrepreneur at the helm of AFNON Industries, envisions the project as a catalyst for economic growth and job creation, with over 120 employment opportunities expected to be generated. Moreover, the venture holds the promise of reducing Zambia’s dependency on imported stoves, thus conserving foreign currency reserves for investment in other vital sectors.
The proposed location for the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is Kabwe, situated in Zambia’s Central Province. Nyendwa cited the strategic advantages of Kabwe’s infrastructure and accessibility as key factors influencing the site selection process.
Nyendwa’s unwavering commitment to driving local industrialization has garnered international acclaim, culminating in an invitation to present at the 10th session of the Africa Regional Forum for Sustainable Development, hosted by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
