Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana, along with DLS Contractor Stanley Livodo and Zambia Army Contract Manager David Mubanga, visited the UN Level 2 Plus Field Hospital at Buffalo Park Barracks in Lusaka.
Contrary to the Financial Intelligence Center (FIC) report, the contractor, DLS International Group of Companies, supplied all the UN mission equipment. Despite only receiving 25% of the payment owed, the contractor delivered the full equipment.
The FIC report claimed that the equipment was never delivered, but the government asserts that it was provided as part of a significant medical facility for a future UN mission.
Zambia is joining other nations in supplying equipment to UN missions, generating approximately $1.3 million monthly, enhancing the country’s income and international reputation.
The medical services offered include a unique negative pressure isolation ward, marking a first for Zambia.
The government plans to explore additional opportunities for equipment deployment and reinvestment through the Zambia Army.
