President Hakainde Hichilema has met with the World Bank’s Group Managing Director Mr. Wencai Zhang to discuss matters of mutual interest.
The discussion at State House yesterday centered around areas of mutual interest and underscored the longstanding support and robust partnership between the World Bank and Zambia, President Hichilema said.
Summarizing the meeting on his public Facebook page, the President said Zambia’s achievements in the debt restructuring process were highlighted.
He also acknowledged the World Bank’s contribution, particularly its pivotal role in providing external financing to support Zambia’s efforts in addressing the severe economic and humanitarian impacts caused by the drought.
“The meeting reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to advancing economic programs developed and led by the government, and expressed anticipation for continued collaboration with the World Bank,” he stated.
Zhang led the delegation from the World Bank, whose partnership was described as a cornerstone in Zambia’s development strategy, reflecting a shared dedication to overcoming challenges and fostering sustainable growth.
