Ukraine intends to establish Zambia as its regional grain distribution hub, leveraging the country’s strategic location.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba made his country’s intentions known today when he met with President Hakainde Hichilema at State House.
In a post-meeting message on his Facebook page, President Hichilema said Ukraine intended to leverage Zambia’s geographic location wherein it is surrounded by nine countries, which will be served by the Lobito and TAZARA Corridors.
The duo also addressed the devastating Russia-Ukraine war “that has caused immense human suffering and global economic upheaval.”
“Zambia remains committed to supporting comprehensive and lasting peace in Ukraine through dialogue,” Mr. Hichilema said.
The two leaders’ discussions focused on strengthening the two countries’ bilateral relations, which have existed since 1993.
