Sate Sate Retires from Active Football, Appointed Coach at Nkana

Record 13-time Zambian league champions Nkana have confirmed the appointment of club legend Ronald “Sate Sate” Kampamba as third assistant coach following his retirement from active football.

Kampamba, 32, has called time on his illustrious career spanning over 15 years having had his first taste of professional football in 2011 after coming through the Kitwe giants’ youth ranks.

Nkana confirmed the appointment of Kampamba as third assistant coach this morning in a publication made on the club’s official Facebook page.

Kampamba joins the Bakala-led technical bench that also consists of Dennis Makinka as first assistant coach, Josephat Nkhoma as second assistant coach and Mike Poto as goalkeeper coach.

Meanwhile, former club captain Donashano Malama, 32, has also retired from active football and has equally been roped into the technical bench as physical trainer.

Kampamba and Malama had both featured for Kalampa last season as first team players having returned to the club following stints at Kansanshi Dynamos and Zesco United respectively.

Kampamba is regarded to be one of the greatest and highest scoring players in Nkana as well as the Zambian top-flight’s history having the top scorer’s award twice in 2013 and 2014.

He also won two Super League titles in 2013 and 2020, the ABSA Cup title in 2018 as well as four Charity Shields during his time with the Wusakile-outfit.
