The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has postponed nominations for the Kawambwa Council Chairperson by-election, which should have taken place today ahead of the by-election on September 19.
ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager Patricia Lungu announced through a statement that the High Court had issued a court order to stay the nomination and by-election pending the determination of judicial review proceedings.
“The Electoral Commission of Zambia will not proceed to hold nominations for the Kawambwa Council Chairperson by-election. The nominations were scheduled to take place today, Tuesday, 20th August 2024 while the polls are scheduled for Thursday, 19th September, 2024.”
