Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Jack Mwiimbu says government is not targeting any particular individuals in the process of recovering stolen and illegally acquired assets.
Mwiimbu stressed that citizens and government are obligated to ensure that all stolen public assets are recovered and reaffirmed the New Dawn government’s commitment to maintaining the rule of law.
“It is the duty of every right thinking Zambian and government to ensure that we recover what was stolen from the people of Zambia. If you have not stolen from the people of Zambia, do not fear anything because we are a government of laws and we are only following those who have stolen from the people of Zambia,” Mwiimbu said.
He added that law enforcement institutions under the New Dawn government are only obliged to seize property by court order.
“We are not grabbing any anyone’s property that is why matters are going to court. It is the courts that make decisions that enables institutions of governance to recover assets,” he said.
Mwiimbu was said this yesterday when he officiated at Kamfinsa School of Public Order Maintenance’s Graduation Ceremony held in Kitwe.
