In a press briefing today, Civil Service Commission Chairperson Dr. Choolwe Beyani provided an update on the recruitment of Cholera volunteers. Following President Hakainde Hichilema’s directive, the Commission has recruited 329 additional Phase III Cholera volunteers. Among them, 209 are general workers and 120 are professionals, raising the total number of Cholera volunteers in public service to 1,250.
Dr. Beyani noted that due to the slow pace of openings for general workers, the Ministry of Health has added 1,088 contract-based positions, bringing the overall number of volunteers to 2,338.
He acknowledged that the third phase of recruitment has been delayed due to factors such as retirements, promotions, transfers, and other personnel changes.
The names of the successful candidates will be published tomorrow, September 18, 2024. Appointment letters can be collected from the Public Service Management Division (PSMD) starting September 19, 2024.
